What you need to know about Subterranean Termites

What you need to know about Subterranean Termites.

Subterranean termites are considered as the most destructive species of termites. In United States alone, they are causing property damages approximately 2 million dollars every year. If they are already present in your home, they will surely cause damage to your house if it is left alone.

They are the type of termites that build their nests or colonies in the soil. Thus, the name Subterranean Termites were given to them.

The Subterranean termites’ colony consists of 3 social classes:

Reproductive: Consist of the king and queen.

Soldiers: The termite soldiers are responsible to protect their colony from predator ants.

Workers: The lowest class in the termite’s colony and also the major population. Their responsibilities are to find food for the entire colony, build and maintain their home and also the one responsible for destroying the woods in your house.

The Subterranean termites are generally cream in color, have soft body and about an inch in their length. You can be sure that they are already in your home when you can find some tunnel of mud or sawdust powder near your wooden structure.

These sorts of termites commonly feed on anything that contains wood fibers as well as cellulose which would include plant products, cardboards and papers.
